The Special Rapporteur is planning a High Level Expert meeting in 2020 to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the mandate. This meeting will bring together government representatives, UN experts, academia and civil society representatives.

Taking stock of the 10 year journey of the FOAA mandate
The Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association, Mr. Clément Voule, will dedicate his next report to the Human Rights Council at its 44st session to take stock on the first decade of work of the mandate with the view of setting its future agenda. The aim of the report is to: i) reflect on the areas of progress and key achievements of the mandate in advancing the exercise of the freedoms of association and peaceful assembly; ii) deepen understanding of the challenges that have confronted the mandate and the international community as a whole in seeking to protect the freedoms of association and peaceful assembly over these years, and iii) identify ways in which the mandate can improve its support for the freedoms of association and peaceful assembly in the future.
Global Civil Society consultation in Sao Paulo in Brazil-Postponed
On February 4-5, the Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association, Mr. Clément Voule, will hold a global consultation in Sao Paulo, Brazil seeking to gather of the views of civil society actors on the first decade of work of the FoAA mandate with the view of setting its future agenda. The consultation will bring together key civil society actors that have first-hand experience interacting with the mandate and can inform the report.
