UN rapporteur condemns Cambridge University for seeking to ban pro-Palestine protests

The UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Assembly, Gina Romero, condemned Cambridge University for attempting to obtain a court order to ban pro-Palestinian protests on its premises, accusing it of violating international human rights standards. Romero urged the university to respect and protect peaceful demonstrations, calling blanket restrictions against protests “disproportionate.” He also criticized the stigmatization of the student movement in solidarity with Palestine and warned against limiting freedom of expression on campus.
