The UN Special Rapporteur on freedom of Peaceful Assembly and of Association, Clément Voule invites you for the presentation of a new Framework for Joint Action outlining measures to strengthen collaboration with all regional mechanisms mandated with the protection of human rights and the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association.

The Joint Action for FoAA Framework will outline collaboration efforts and opportunities for the promotion and protection of these fundamental rights, including efforts that would enhance the mechanisms’ responses to major existing and emerging trends undermining civic space in all regions of the world.

Discussions will address persistent and emerging threats in the context of the protection of civic space, with a focus on how they are growing more complex and interconnected across the regions of the world. Special attention will be paid to the role that States can play in increasing coordination and joint action with international and regional mechanisms to protect and promote civic space globally.

Speakers include Clément N Voule, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association, Pedro Vaca, Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights Andrea Huber (Ms) Head, Human Rights Department, OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, Remy Lumbu, Chairperson of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, Yuyun Wahyuningrum, Representative of Indonesia at ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights.

The event is co-organized by the UN Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association, Clément N. Voule, the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights (ACHPR), the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).

It is co-sponsored by the Permanent Missions to the UN  in Geneva of the Republic of Costa Rica, the Czech Republic and Switzerland.
