UNSR Voule has committed to take a pragmatic approach to his work, providing practical recommendations and developing tools to support the effective action of all stakeholders. He works with partners to develop guidelines and toolkits to raise awareness of the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association and to promote the implementation of international norms and standards directed at ensuring all people can freely and fully exercise their rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association.

As a follow up to UNSR Voule’s report on “Access to justice as an Integral element of the protection of rights to freedom of Peaceful Assembly and Association“, the Special Rapporteur presents this list of non-exhaustive practical guidelines and recommendations for lawyers and legal practitioners in support of peaceful assemblies.
This toolkit serves as a practical companion to Special Rapporteur Voule’s 2020 report to the United Nations General Assembly, “Celebrating Women in Activism and Civil Society”, which calls on States, business enterprises, international organizations, civil society actors and the donor community to accelerate efforts to ensure women in all their diversity can fully and equally exercise their fundamental freedoms.
This publication presents practical recommendations to ensure the participation of civil society in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. It is a follow-up to UNSR Voule’s first report on the linkages between the exercise of the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, submitted to the General Assembly at its seventy-third session (A/73/279).
This publication provides actionable recommendations for states, civil society and other stakeholders on how to secure human rights in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
